Tuesday 27 September
On Tuesday 27 September we held a further lecture in our Screenwriters Lecture series. The speaker was Frank Cottrell Boyce (Butterfly Kiss, Welcome to Sarajevo, 24 Hour Party People).
Cottrell Boyce's credits include Welcome To Sarajevo and 24 Hour Party People.
"Rewriting is a fantastic privilage. It is getting another chance to get it right."
"So much creativity can be born out of absolutely hating another movie."
"Suspense is that delicious gap between events; not knowing how you'll get from one moment to the next."
"If the ending is going to surprise anybody, it should surprise the writer first."
"The only way to get something written is to do it with love and all the abandon that that word implies."
Frank was interviewed by fellow screenwriter Olivia Hetreed.
"Children used to be read to for pleasure. In turn, it encouraged them to learn to read. Reading is so important."
