BAFTA Glamour Secrets Revealed

BAFTA's fashion and make-up partners share insider secrets with Edith Bowman on how the stars will be styled on Awards night and what trends we can look forward to seeing this year.

From the minute a star steps foot onto the BAFTA red carpet, the eyes of the world are upon them. It's no wonder then that looking fabulous is part and parcel of attending the EE British Academy Film Awards . On the day of the ceremony BAFTA's official style partners are on hand, offering their services ready to pamper and prepare the stars in the hours before their moment in the spotlight.

In this series of BAFTA Style interviews, Edith Bowman gets the inside secrets on how to achieve the essence of true BAFTA glamour.

BAFTA Red Carpet Fashion in 2012

The Blue Valentine and Shutter Island star is nominated for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn. Williams is wearing a cream and navy H&M Custom bespoke dress and Forever Mark jewellery. Michelle Williams The X Files actress, most recently seen in Great Expectations and Johnny English Reborn, will present the BAFTA for Animated Film. She is wearing Vintage Sybil Connolly Haute Couture 1956. Gillian Anderson The TV and radio presenter will be talking to all the winners backstage, exclusively for bafta.org. Zoe Ball The TV and radio presenter gets ready to host the BBC's red carpet coverage, in a vintage Dior gown. She also wears gold and diamond Woodland hoop earrings, a yellow Daisy ring and a gold calla Lily ring all by Asprey. Edith Bowman Hosting E!'s red carpet coverage are Radio One DJ Cotton and The X Factor's O'Leary. Fearne is pictured here in a gown by Moschino and Dermot O'Leary in a suit by Tom Sweeney. Fearne Cotton and Dermot O'Leary The Breaking Dawn actor, in Dior, will present the BAFTA for Original Music. Harry Potter actress Bonnie will soon be seen in upcoming fantasy thriller, The Philosophers. Bonnie Wright wears a vintage dress with accessories by Prada. Jamie Campbell Bower & Bonnie Wright The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus director and Monty Python writer was awarded a BAFTA Fellowship by the Academy in 2009. Terry Gilliam Most recently seen in BBC series Merlin, the actress is perhaps best known for her turn in crime drama Silent Witness, she's pictured here in a gown by Luisa Beccaria. She also wears Protector Citrine earrings and ring, and has Calla Lily orange sapphire broach placed in her hair, all by Asprey. Emilia Fox The BAFTA-winning director of The Warrior is nominated for acclaimed documentary Senna. Asif Kapadia Nominated for the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award, Redmayne recently appeared in My Week With Marilyn and TV drama Birdsong. Redmayne is dressed in black velvet by Burberry. Eddie Redmayne The Film 2012 host looks radiant on the red carpet in Ossie Clark with a Chanel necklace. Claudia Winkleman The actor will be hoping for a BAFTA win for his latest film, The Iron Lady, which is nominated in four categories. He is wearing Hackett. Richard E. Grant The Attack The Block writer/director is nominated in the Outstanding Debut category for the sci-fi action comedy. Joe Cornish The Brit actress will co-present the BAFTAs for Short Film and Short Animation with Game of Thrones star Joseph Mawle. Her dress is by Valentino, shoes by Christian Louboutin. Holliday Grainger The Help producer Brunson Green, actress Octavia Spencer, director Tate Taylor and actress Viola Davis. The film is nominated for five BAFTAs including Best Film, Leading Actress and Supporting Actress. Davis is wearing a dress by Valentino, shoes by Jimmy Choo and Bvlgari jewellry. Spencer is in a Tadashi Shoji dress. The Help Cast and Crew The Staffordshire actor and filmmaker is nominated in the Outstanding Debut category for directing gritty drama Tyrannosaur. Paddy Considine The Brit actress starred in Joe Wright's action thriller Hanna last year. Williams is dressed in a cream Vivienne Westwood with a Swirl necklace, bracelet and earrings by Asprey. Olivia Williams The Mad Men star, also seen in Bridesmaids and Sucker Punch last year, will present the BAFTA for Adapted Screenplay. Jon Hamm wears a suit designed by Tom Ford. Jon Hamm The director of The King’s Speech is now working on an adaptation of Les Miserables. He’ll present the BAFTA for Cinematography. Tom Hooper Branagh is nominated for his performance as Laurence Olivier in My Week With Marilyn and has three previous wins, including Director for Henry V. He's pictured here wearing a suit by Zegna. Kenneth Branagh The filmmaker, who won the Outstanding Debut BAFTA for Hunger in 2009, returns with an Outstanding British Film nomination for Shame. Steve McQueen The actor is nominated for an Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award for his performance in Thor. He is wearing Armani. Tom Hiddleston The critically acclaimed singer/songwriter brings her unique sense of style to the red carpet.  Sandé is wearing Vintage Jean Claude. Emeli Sandé The star of C4's Fresh Meat, who also appeared in Brit docudrama Dreams of A Life. Zawe Ashton The Mad Men star also appeared in Drive last year and will be announcing the winner of the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award. Hendricks is wearing Vivienne Westwood. Christina Hendricks After comic turns in Superbad and Get Him To The Greek, Hill is nominated for his dramatic performance opposite Brad Pitt in Moneyball. Hill is wearing a suit by Calvin Klein. Jonah Hill Famed for memorable performances in films like The Elephant Man, Midnight Express and The Field, Hurt will receive the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award. Hurt is wearing a suit by Ozwald Boateng. John Hurt CBE The Jerry Maguire actor, soon to be seen in action adventure Red Tails, will present the BAFTA for Special Visual Effects. He's pictured here in a suit by Hackett. Cuba Gooding Jr The Harry Potter star can currently be seen in British chiller The Woman In Black. He’ll be co-presenting the BAFTA for Original Screenplay with Christina Ricci. Radcliffe is wearing Antonio Azzuolo. Daniel Radcliffe Broadbent is nominated for his performance as Denis Thatcher in The Iron Lady and has two previous wins, including Supporting Actor for Moulin Rouge. He is wearing Hackett. Jim Broadbent The Alice in Wonderland director with his wife, who returns after winning Supporting Actress last year for The King’s Speech to present the BAFTA for Supporting Actor. Tim Burton & Helena Bonham Carter The legendary crooner will be opening the ceremony with his Bond theme, Thunderball. Jones is in a suit by Tom Ford. Tom Jones Pitt’s nomination for Leading Actor in baseball drama Moneyball is his fourth BAFTA nomination to date, including one for producing The Departed. Brad Pitt The Slumdog Millionaire actor, recently seen in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, will present the BAFTA for Film Not in the English Language. Anil wears Hackett. Anil Kapoor The IT Crowd actor is nominated in the Outstanding Debut category for writing and directing quirky comedy Submarine. Richard Ayoade & Guest The producer is nominated in the Outstanding British Film category for My Week With Marylin. Harvey Weinstein The filmmaker and actor is nominated for two awards: Leading Actor in The Descendants and Adapted Screenplay for The Ides of March. Clooney is wearing Armani. George Clooney Sky Movies' film buff Alex Zane will be presenting BAFTA's backstage show, The Final Word. he's pictured here wearing a suit by The Kooples. Alex Zane Perhaps best known as Voldemort in the Harry Potter series, Fiennes is nominated in the Outstanding Debut category for directing Coriolanus. He is dressed in a bespoke suit by Timothy Everest. Ralph Fiennes Leading Actor winner of the previous year, Colin Firth in Armani and his wife in a Paul Smith tux with vintage Cartier tassel earrings from 1907 with emeralds and diamonds. Colin & Livia Firth The German-Irish actor, pictured here in a suit by Armani, is nominated for his portrayal of a man struggling with sex addiction in Shame, his second collaboration with director Steve McQueen after Hunger. Michael Fassbender The History Boys actor and Television BAFTA winner James Corden walks the red carpet. James Corden The Attack The Block and Tintin star will soon be seen in Snow White And The Huntsman. Nick Frost This is Tilda’s first Leading Actress nomination (for We Need To Talk About Kevin), having previously won for her supporting role in Michael Clayton. She is wearing a dress by Celine. Tilda Swinton The celebrated filmmaker behind Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Aviator and Hugo will join the likes of Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick when he receives the Academy Fellowship. Martin Scorsese The Orange Wednesdays Rising Star nominee will also co-present the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut with his Bridesmaids co-star Kristen Wiig. O'Dowd is wearing Hackett, Porter is in William Vintage Dior. Chris O'Dowd & Dawn Porter The Spanish actress, recently seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, will present the BAFTA for Leading Actor. Cruz is wearing a purple strapless dress by Armani and jewellery by Chopard. Penelope Cruz The Orange Wednesdays Rising Star nominee appeared in Kidulthood and Bonded By Blood before co-writing, directing and starring in a comedy Anuvahood. Adam Deacon The Birdsong and Game of Thrones star (wearing Hackett) will co-present the award for Short Film & Short Animation with Brit actress Holliday Grainger. Joseph Mawle Pitt’s nomination for Leading Actor in baseball drama Moneyball is his fourth BAFTA nomination to date, including one for producing The Departed. Pitt is wearing Gucci. Brad Pitt Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy star and Leading Actor nominee Gary Oldman with his wife Alexandra. Gary Oldman & Alexandra Edenborough Leading Actor nominee Jean Dujardin, star of The Artist. Jean Dujardin The Help star and Supporting Actress nominee wearing a metallic Oscar De La Renta gown, accessorised with Jimmy Choo shoes.
