Film Awards Red Carpet Access

Find out how to watch the Red Carpet at the Orange British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 16 February, 2014.

Access the Red Carpet

As in previous years, there will be opportunities for the public to view the Red Carpet and watch the excitement of the stars arriving for the evening.

  • There will be no access to the public viewing area without a wristband.
  • Wristbands will start to be issued between 7am and 8am on Sunday 16 February, and will continue to be handed out throughout the day until the public areas are full.
  • Wristbands will be issued from the start of the public queuing area under the colonnades of the Theatre Royal on Russell Street between (see attached map).
  • BAFTA does not have permission for spectators to queue under the colonnades prior to 7am on Sunday 16 February, public who wait here prior to that time do so at their own risk and may be moved on by Theatre Royal staff.
  • Do not block any doorways from the Theatre Royal, they need to be accessible at all times.
  • Any public who do not queue under the colonnades or are found to be blocking doorways will not be issued a wristband and be asked to move to the end of the queue.
  • Tents will not be permitted under the colonnades as they restrict the public footpath.

  • The public viewing areas will be filled from approximately 3pm by security.
  • Wristbands will be issued by security on a first come, first served basis. The wristband will be placed on the spectator’s wrist immediately and will not be transferable.
  • BAFTA security will give instructions on the day to help you safely into the viewing areas. They will be dressed in high visibility jackets therefore easy to identify. Please listen to their instructions.
  • There will be random bag searches of all public in the viewing areas in operation so we advise you to bring as little baggage as possible.
  • Please take all your rubbish with you and keep the area clean.
  • Please remember that BAFTA cannot guarantee the weather – please dress appropriately.

Disabled Access to the Public Viewing Area

There are 20 spaces available in the disabled area on the Red Carpet. These places will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. All disabled guests should contact Helen Kierney to apply for a place in the viewing area.

On the day of the awards, disabled guests who have a confirmed space in the area should meet at 16.00 by the clothing store East, located in the Covent Garden Piazza. Here you will be issued a wristband by BAFTA security and escorted to the viewing area.
