An Eventful Night
When producing our glamorous after-parties for our Awards ceremonies we have always been lucky enough to work with some of the UK’s most distinguished production companies.
For this year’s Television Awards, the Academy’s new events arm, BAFTA Events, will be staging the most exciting after-party yet.

BAFTA / Marc HobermanThe party, taking place in the beautiful Ballroom at the Grosvenor House Hotel, will take inspiration from the season and be full of springtime fun.
We never like to give too much away in advance but we are hoping to bring a little of the outdoors in, so that our guests can party in a BAFTA garden.
We are also thrilled that Pioneer is supporting the party. Their Kuro screens will be fabulous additions to the evening’s entertainment ( www.pioneer.co.uk/kuro ).

The Awards Online - We’ve got it covered
For this year’s Television Awards BAFTA are streaming exclusive footage online and they've asked me, James Dagwell, to host the coverage.
From 6pm bafta.org will have exclusive red carpet interviews plus the first reaction from all the winners as they come off stage.
Reporting entertainment news as one of my roles at the BBC I know that BAFTA represents the gold standard of awards and I'm delighted to be part of their online plans.
So, what can you expect to see?
First off, we'll be providing exclusive in-depth interviews with the stars. At the Nominees party I caught up with the stars and spoke to the recipient of this year's Special Award, the so-called "father of reality TV", Paul Watson . Have a look at the interview – he certainly doesn't hold back on his views about television in 2008!

On the night of the Awards, we’ll be bringing you exclusive red carpet interviews with the arriving celebrities – If you want know who’s there, who’s saying and wearing what before everyone else simply watch online. The footage will be available before the 8pm show on BBC One to give you a taste of the evening’s star-studded line up. We’re expecting a host of showbiz luminaries from Joanna Lumley, John Hurt and John Simm to Ricky and, of course, Bianca.
BAFTA will also have the only TV camera backstage and I'll be grabbing the winners as soon as they come off stage after receiving their awards. It'll be immediate and raw – we'll no doubt catch a few tears before the winners compose themselves for the crews waiting outside!
Of course, getting all this uploaded to bafta.org is no mean technological feat – I'm just one person in a long line of people working hard to get the interviews online as soon as possible so you can enjoy the backstage buzz from television’s biggest night of the year.
If you want me to ask the star a question, feel free to email web@bafta.org , and we’ll see what we can do. Enjoy the show and don’t forget to click back here on Sunday 20 April.

Last night...
Last night's nominees party for both the Television and Television Craft Awards was great fun and a resounding success.
A whole host of nominees and Award presenters joined us to celebrate at London's Landmark Hotel. Here's a few pics from the party, including TV and TV Craft Awards hosts Graham Norton and Claudia Winkleman plus Skins star Mitch Hewer, aka Maxxie:

The Party before the Party
Although the TV Awards is still over a week away (and TV Craft further still on the horizon) our nominees always get the chance to let their hair down before their big moment.
Our nominees party is taking place tonight at the Landmark Hotel – the official hotel of this year’s TV Awards. A large proportion of our TV and TV Craft nominees will be there for a luxurious champagne and canapé reception.

BAFTAAs well as being great fun, the party provides a chance for everyone to get together to celebrate their nomination in advance of the actual ceremony. For BAFTA, it’s really great to meet all the people whose work we are recognising and congratulate them on their achievements.
The party should be a star stuffed affair, with Taittinger champagne flowing and an amazing array of canapés provided by the Landmark. We will also be filming the stars to ask them how they feel about their BAFTA nomination in candid one-to-one interviews.
Check out the website for the latest party pics and footage.

Opening the Web
The launch of BAFTA’s new website back in October brought with it the chance to do some really exciting things online – especially as we seek to champion the art forms of the moving image.
In addition to the growing list of Academy webcasts on the site we are planning big things for the Television Awards.

BAFTA / Richard KendalThis year we will be right in the thick of the action. Cameras and crew from BAFTA Productions will be interviewing the stars - including host Graham Norton - at the exclusive nominees’ party on the 10 April.
At the Awards themselves our red carpet cameras will capture all the action and talk to the stars as they arrive for their big night. We’ll also be interviewing all the major winners as they walk off stage with their BAFTA masks, providing you with a unique perspective on the Awards.
All the footage can be viewed here on the night alongside the latest galleries and up-to-the-minute news on who has won.
All you have to do is sit back, relax and watch as the Awards come to life online.

Switched On...
It seems like only a moment ago I was walking down the red carpet at the Film Awards. And yet, with the glitz and glamour still sparkling in the memory, the Television Awards are just around the corner.
The Awards come at a really Interesting phase in television history. The growth of digital services and online viewing means we are switching on to TV in new ways. Things have certainly changed since the first Society of Film and Television Arts Awards in 1958!
Not to say that this year’s crop of nominees won’t represent the very best in TV programming, from comedy and entertainment, to drama and documentary.
And the event itself? Once again a wealth of TV talent will walk the red carpet to watch the ceremony at the London Palladium. Graham Norton is all set to take the helm for the second year running and a host of star names will present BAFTA masks in 23 categories.
Not only that, but our online coverage promises to be more exciting than ever, with a range of features, images and video content posted on the night. Make sure you switch on and watch online…
