The British Academy Television Craft Awards honour the unseen heroes of television, those who tirelessly work behind the camera.

The Awards recognise and reward excellence in the fields of factual, fiction and entertainment, and cover costume design, editing, graphic design, make-up and hair design, music, photography and lighting, production design, sound and visual effects. In addition, the Academy is committed to developing new talent across these secialist areas introduced a Break-through Talent Award in 2006.

The nominations for the British Academy Television Craft Awards in 2008 will be announced on Wednesday 26 March. The ceremony will take place on Sunday 11 May at London's Dorchester Hotel.

This year, awards will be presented in twenty one categories including new Interactive Awards for Creative Contribution, Format and Service. This year's Director category has been split between Factual and Fiction to reflect the different skill sets involved.

A Special Award will again be presented to recognise the contribution of a particular individual to Television Craft. Last year the Special Award was presented by Fellow of the Academy Sir David Jason to veteran comedy and drama producer Sydney Lotterby.

Every year the ceremony attracts a wealth of talent and the ceremony in 2007 was no exception. Newsreader Jon Snow hosted the ceremony and attendees and presenters included Jim Broadbent, Martin Freeman, Emilia Fox, Jon Culshaw, Philip Glenister, Adrian Edmondson, Bill Patterson, Jodie Whittaker, Ruth Wilson, Dominic Cooper, Sacha Dawan, Ian Puleston-Davies, Christine Bottomley and Jaye Griffiths.
