CBBC Me and My Movie - a successful collaboration between BBC Learning, CBBC and BAFTA – is now in its third year. This children’s film-making initiative aims to inspire and enable 6-14 year olds to make their own films and tell their own stories. This year’s competition was launched on Blue Peter in May.

CBBC hosts the Me and My Movie website - an online resource enabling children to share and rate each other’s films as well as pick up important filmmaking tips and the Me and My Movie UK tour enabled over 1,000 children to work with professional film-makers and actors to make their own films. National Schools Film Week screened a cinema trailer to over 400,000 children to further raise the profile of the initiative. BAFTA hosted a "How To Make Your Own...." event at the London Children’s Film Festival where the nominated films were screened and a panel highlighted why they were such strong contenders. Last year’s winner, Leah Cooper, 13 from Essex, also went to talk about her prizewinning film, The Prank and discuss her ongoing interest in filmmaking.

CBBC The competition closed on 5 October with nearly 800 entries - a significant increase on previous years and demonstrating that there is an ongoing commitment from children who have entered in previous years.

The films went through three stringent rounds of judging involving BAFTA and BBC experts and culminated in a "Super Jury" chaired by BAFTA member and independent producer Jocelyn Stevenson. The panel compromised screenwriter Mark Burton, Blue Peter presenter Joel Defries, Blue Peter editor Tim Levell, Lizo Mzimba from BBC News, producer/director Stephen Woolley and young acting talent Holliday Grainger, Reece Ritchie, Michelle Ryan and Jodie Whittaker.

The four nominees:

	WINNER: Vern’s Vacation	Lauren, 14 from Isle of Man	Ingenious and original, this animated film shows a surprising breadth of scale. Vern really gets around!
	N.O. News	Dominic, 10 from London	This slick, well-executed, well directed parody of a news show is pun-filled and hilarious.
	The Penguins Protest	Natalie, 14 from Gloucestershire	Can penguins change the world? This is an insightful and heart-warming film, beautifully animated.
	Safari Adventure!	Sumayya, 10, and team from Birmingham	Well-performed, engaging, with a great sense of place, this imaginative film is roaringly good fun.

As part of their prize, all four young nominees attended the Awards where Lauren's Vern's Vacation was announced as the winning film.
