The Children's Committee are vital to the running of the Children's Awards and play a crucial role in the Academy throughout the year.
The Children's Committee is not only involved in the content and presentation of the annual British Academy Children's Awards (considering categories, chairing juries, providing key editorial advice) but is increasingly involved in developing membership events throughout the year to raise the profile of children's film and television and to highlight the Academy's commitment to the industry.
JULIAN SCOTT - CHAIR
Head of Children's Programming, Coolabi Productions
Julian Scott runs Coolabi Productions, a division of Coolabi plc; a public traded company focussing on the ownership and exploitation of high quality intellectual property assets. Prior to Coolabi Julian ran Zenith Entertainment's children's division where he oversaw over 150 episodes of live action drama series Byker Grove and Out There for CBBC and animation such as King Arthur's Disasters for CiTV. Prior to Zenith, Julian worked in New York for Sesame Workshop, most recently as Group Vice President, European Operations and prior to that as Group Vice President, Creative Development. During this time he was credited with creating the most active development slate in the history of the company and built strategic partnerships and relationships for the Workshop around the world. Before locating to the US, Julian was Head of Production and Operations at Walt Disney Television International in London, overseeing 33 branded productions across the world.
SUE NOTT - DEPUTY CHAIR
Executive Producer Independents, CBBC Drama
Sue has worked in television for twenty years. As a producer, she has made a wide range of children's programmes, from drama and comedy to documentary and magazine, including BAFTA winners such as Coping With Relatives, Coping With Christmas and The Ant And Dec Show. She joined the BBC in 1998 as Executive Producer in Education, where she was responsible for a large output of schools programmes, including the BAFTA-winning drama Offside and documentary Saying It for the Girls, before becoming Head of Education in BBC Children's and managing production of BBC schools TV for six years. Sue currently works in CBBC Drama as executive producer for all the independent drama productions made for BBC Children's.

TONY COLLINGWOOD

Tony trained as an animator at Liverpool Polytechnic. He went on to The National Film and Television School at Beaconsfield, England where he wrote, animated and directed his first film Rarg. After forming Collingwood O'Hare Entertainment with producer, Chris O'Hare in 1988, Tony has gone on to create, write and direct animated series and specials for the company. He has adapted many properties for television including The Beano's Dennis The Menace, Eddy And The Bear, Dr Seuss's Daisy Head-Maysie and most recently, Harry And His Bucket Full Of Dinosaurs. He has also created and directed many original children's series for television including Yoko! Jakamoko! Toko!, for which he was nominated in 2003 and won the BAFTA award for Best Writer in 2004. His most recent creation is The Secret Show - a comedy spy adventure series for BBC in the UK and Nicktoons in the States.
MADDY DARRALL
Darrall Macqueen
Maddy is a children's television producer, director and deviser. Since co-founding Darrall Macqueen in 2000 Maddy has overseen over 750 hours of live entertainment and 100 hours of drama, comedy and game shows. She devised and launched BBC Children's digital flagship television brand Smile, and its associated web, text and interactive elements, in 2002 (now in its sixth series). She also co-devised BBC Children's groundbreaking interactive drama series UGetMe (three series), CiTV's groundbreaking wildlife and flash animation show Animal Spies (two series) and CiTV's interactive factual series Feel The Fear and internet event week Mouse (three series).
RICHARD DEVERELL
Controller, BBC Children's
Richard Deverell is the Controller of BBC Children's, responsible for all CBeebies and CBBC output, including programmes on BBC1 and BBC2, two dedicated channels, websites and interactive television. He started in this role in early 2006, having joined BBC Children's as Chief Operating Officer in mid-2005. Prior to BBC Children's, Richard worked in BBC News, which he joined in 1995 as Head of Strategy and Marketing before being appointed as Head of BBC News Interactive in 2000. In this role he ran the BBC News website, interactive TV, Ceefax and the Action Network community. During this period, the BBC News website won many major UK and international awards. Before joining BBC News, Richard worked in BBC Strategy for several years. Projects included negotiations over the BBC's charter renewal, assessing the impact and opportunities of the internet and developing the BBC's strategy for multi-channel television. Prior to joining the BBC, Richard worked in management consultancy. He read Natural Sciences at Cambridge and is married with three children. Richard is a Trustee of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

GLYNN HAYWARD
Creative Director, Complete Control
Glynn is the Creative and Managing Director of Complete Control, a Digital Media agency specialising in producing online games and web sites for children's entertainment and education. Since 1999, Glynn has directed and produced over 100 bespoke online educational games for some of the UK's largest broadcasters and children's charities, to help children learn through having fun. 2006 saw Complete Control winning the first BAFTA for the Learning Primary category for an online interactive white board resource called Mapping our World. Glynn is also directing and producing Flash-animated multi-platform content for children's entertainment brands such as Charlie And Lola, The Secret Show, Mr Bean, Princess Poppy, CBeebies, Blue Peter and the Teletubbies!
HOWARD LITTON
Senior Vice President, General Manager, Director of Channels, Nickelodeon UK
Howard has a far-reaching role as the creative leader in all aspects of Nickelodeon UK's channel business, including channel strategy and development, programming and production. He oversees and drives the programming and creative strategies for all three Nickelodeon channels: Nickelodeon, Nick Jr and Nicktoons. He played a key role in the launches of Nicktoons and Nick Jr channels, and for a number of BAFTA-winning productions, including Nick News. Recent creative and ratings successes, overseen by Howard, include the dynamic re-facing of Nicktoons, the launch of weekday breakfast show The Crunch, and the development of Nickelodeon's pre-school channel Nick Jr. Litton joined Nickelodeon in 1995 as Acquisitions Manager. In that post he was responsible for Nickelodeon UK's acquisitions of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Sister Sister and Teletubbies. Prior to Nickelodeon, Howard held several positions within Britt Allcroft, including Head of Business Affairs and Executive Producer of Magic Adventures Of Mumfie.
TRISTAN OLIVER

Tristan Oliver started his career as an actor before moving behind the camera. He has been a freelance Director of Photography for 18 years and has made his name in the worlds of effects and animation, working extensively with Nick Park, notably on the features Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Wererabbit. He's also shot many award-winning commercials and short films such as The Wrong Trousers, Stage Fright and A Close Shave. He sits on both the BAFTA Film and Children's Committees and has a particular responsibility for children's and family films.

JOCELYN STEVENSON
Creative Director, Traveller's Tales Animation
Jocelyn has created, written, produced and/or executive produced a number of television series for young children including Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Charlie Chalk, Jim Henson's Ghost Of Faffner Hall, The Animal Show With Stinky And Jake, The Magic School Bus, Mopatop's Shop, The Hoobs, Bob The Builder, Barney And Friends, Angelina Ballerina, Thomas And Friends, Rubbadubbers and Pingu. She has an Emmy and several Emmy and BAFTA nominations. She is a Creative Director of Traveller's Tales Animation, a newly-created subsidiary of Traveller's Tales Games, which is developing and producing original, multi-platform properties for children and young people.
KARL WOOLLEY
Lion Television
Karl has worked in television, theatre and film as an actor, writer and producer for 14 years. Following the formation of Tell-Tale Productions in 1994, Karl became Managing Director of the Company in 1999. He was responsible for negotiating and implementing television and distribution contracts for all the company's properties, including Tweenies with BBC, and Boo! with Universal. Karl moved to Lion Television in 2006.
MARTIN WRIGHT
Director of Gamelab London/CEO of Shoreditch Consortium
Martin has over twenty-five years experience as a founder member of UK's multimedia industries. He established the BBC's first interactive media group in 1982 and has been involved in educational and children's interactive gaming ever since. Martin's current role places him on the interface between education and training, production and publishing. He combines the new talent internships at Gamelab London, part of London Metropolitan University, with high-end production activity for Shoreditch Consortium Ltd. His titles include Teddy Bear Disc (OU), Life and Energy (DTI), Sculpture Interactive (Tate Gallery) and Alphabet Soup (Compact Multimedia/Dataworks PTY/2Simple).
