BAFTA Youth Mentoring Programme

Find out how BAFTA members have become involved with Media Trust to pilot a mentoring programme for disadvantaged young people in London.

BAFTA has partnered with Media Trust to pilot a Youth Mentoring Programme for disadvantaged young people in London.

Up to 30 Academy members and leading industry practitioners have been matched with a group or individual (aged 13 to 25) to offer skills-based support on a media project.

Media Trust logoMedia Trust is a government-backed charity that harnesses the skills, resources and creativity of the media industry to help voluntary organisations and charities make a difference to people’s lives.

Our Introduction to Youth Mentoring event took place on Monday 14 July 2008.

Chaired by Media Trust's Director of Communications, Katie Simpson, the event included Krishnendu Majumdar, Chair of the Learning & Events Committee, Liz Settimba from SkyWay charity and community youth group project, Efe Ezekiel, a media professional and mentor with Westminster Digital Media Unit and Maddie Dinwoodie, Media Trust’s Senior Project Manager for Youth Media.

Also present were Niyi Akeju, BAFTA's Learning Projects Producer and Heather Samuels of Rising Tide, a professional development and training charity.
