Breakthrough Brits is a new initiative that supports and celebrates up-and-coming British talent.
BAFTA is searching for talented newcomers in Film, TV and Games as part of a brand new initiative. In partnership with Burberry, Breakthrough Brits will showcase and support the next generation of creative talent.

The Details
Up to 20 talented newcomers will be selected by an industry jury to take part in a year-long mentoring and guidance programme that includes free access to BAFTA events and regular meetings with industry experts who will help them form the industry connections that will shape their future career. This activity will kick off with a day of in-depth career guidance and mentoring from leading industry figures at BAFTA headquarters, 195 Piccadilly, in London on October 21, 2013. The day will conclude with an evening reception at Burberry’s Regent Street flagship store.
Candidates must be;
- UK nationals residing in Great Britain
- at the start of their career and making a name for themselves as a performer or in a craft specialism within film, television or games
- have been involved with a piece of work that has been theatrically released, broadcast or published between October 2012 and October 2013 in either a supporting or leading role
- in their first lead role on a production between October 2012 and October 2013, though it may still be in production
Full applications received will be considered by industry experts in Film, Television and Games. A high profile cross-industry jury of leading figures will select the successful Breakthrough Brits.
Candidates may apply in either ‘Film and TV’ or ‘Games’. You will need to fully complete the online application form which can be found by following the appropriate link above and also submit a current CV and a showreel of up to five minutes in length. All applicants apart from writers are required to submit a showreel.
